PROFESSIONAL AND TEACHING EXPERIENCE January 2008-Present Serve as executive director of distance education, learning technologies and continuing education to the provost and vice president of academic affairs, with responsibility for the advancement of the virtual academic enterprise of the institution. Act as a liaison between academic department leaders throughout the university to develop new programs and services. Develop and manage the University's distance education programs, including the eCampus, hybrid-online and tele-learning offerings. Develop procedures, standards, and practices related to online, hybrid-online, internet-enhanced courses and learning technologies. Oversee the selection, evaluation, design and implementation of academic technology, instructional technology, instructional design, and online teaching initiatives. Design, plan, implement and execute a strategic vision coupled to the IT strategic plan for the eCampus and Learning Technologies. Provide vision, leadership, and advocacy for academic technology initiatives to improve the teaching and learning services provided to faculty, students, and staff. In collaboration with Chairs and Deans, direct the design and delivery of faculty training opportunities to ensure the most current and effective learning technologies are incorporated into daily classroom strategies. Consult individually with faculty to discuss instructional design principles and strategies that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Manage the development and evaluation of technology-enriched courses. Serve as accreditation liaison for relevant accreditation programs to ensure compliance with Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE) policies. Develop and administer appropriate assessment, evaluation, and monitoring processes for the distance learning program, courses, and support services. Develop proposals for collaborative programs with other educational institutions (public schools and community colleges). Market and promote the eCampus program.Coordinate funding requests, budget planning, and fiscal reporting to manage an IT budget and supervise a staff of 5. Represent the institution within the Pennsylvania System of Higher Education and to external constituencies as designated by the provost and vice president of academic affairs.
June 2001-December 2007 Directed the operations of instructional technologies staff within the Center for Instructional and Technological Innovation (CITI) in the provision of faculty development and support of instructional technology applications in the classroom and for online learning. Developed and coordinated the implementation of policies, procedures, guidelines and standards for the acquisition and use of instructional technology, including exploration, evaluation, and integration of new tools and technologies, including multimedia, into face-to-face and online courses. Worked with on-campus academic and administrative units in the design, installation, management and campus-wide leadership of classroom technology. Coordinated, facilitated and lead IT-related projects, including project reporting, team building, project staffing, and project execution. Directed, managed and awarded instructional technology mini-grants for 4 consecutive semesters. Increased and strengthened the collaboration links with three offices: Office of Online Learning, Department of Academic Computing, and Information Technology Services, to build awareness, understanding, and increase skill level of technology-enhanced pedagogy, and in the identification of new educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning. Developed, designed and delivered training to more 280 instructors in the use and adoption of instructional technology for inclusion in face-to-face teaching including: integration of instructional technology, instructional design, hardware/software selection and best practices. Assisted faculty in using and/or exploring the pedagogical uses of new technologies -web-based content, learning objects, digital imaging, streaming media and associated interactive learning strategies - that may have the potential to improve teaching, learning and research. Oversight of hands-on configuring, upgrading, maintaining, analyzing and troubleshooting electronic presentation systems and multimedia equipment. Technical leadership includes the design, adaptation, and integration of advanced digital technologies into the curricular activities of faculty and students.
